Ceol na Mara Junior

This will be based not so much on exam results but on what the tutors consider to be a comfortable yet challenging enough class for each child’s ability

The classes will involve:

Warm ups/ brain games/ improvisation : Lisa takes this popular session to begin each day. The emphasis is on fun and getting to know each other, but which will stimulate concentration, rhythm and help them explore the possibilities of their instrument!

Orchestra: where the young musicians will be all together to learn some popular classics.

Chamber music: where they will be in smaller ensembles suitable to each individual’s level to have fun while improving sight- reading and listening skills.

Traditional Irish music: This is a chance to learn some of the wonderful Irish airs and dances. This class is a great way to develop the ear as it is primarily learnt by listening and repeating. If by any chance the children play a second instrument such as concertina, or tin whistle, these will be very welcome in these classes.

Sean Nos dancing: Amy will get them dancing by teaching them some steps in the Connemara 'Sean Nos' tradition.

Drama: Tegolin will work with the children on a drama piece, which for the class performance will incorporate music and dance.
